The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Opens Tomorrow

Every day is MAR10 Day, and tomorrow might be the biggest one yet. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hits theaters across the United States on April 1, 2026. And no, that is not an April Fool’s joke.

The sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which earned over $1.3 billion worldwide, takes Mario and his crew off the ground and into the cosmos. Mario and Luigi join Princess Peach, Toad, and a newly introduced Yoshi as they travel across the galaxy to stop Bowser Jr., who is determined to free his father from captivity and restore the Koopa family legacy. Along the way they meet Rosalina, the cosmic guardian of the universe, voiced by Brie Larson.

The returning cast is stacked. Chris Pratt is back as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy returns as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. New additions include Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Donald Glover as Yoshi, and Glen Powell as Star Fox’s Fox McCloud, a surprise addition that has fans buzzing about a possible Smash Bros. film down the road.

The film is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the same duo behind the first movie, with Brian Tyler returning to compose the score using a full 70-piece orchestra and re-recorded themes from the original Super Mario Galaxy game.

The movie is inspired primarily by the beloved 2007 Wii classic Super Mario Galaxy and its 2010 sequel, games widely considered among the greatest ever made. Shigeru Miyamoto himself described the film as the “main event” of the Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary celebration.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is rated PG and runs 1 hour and 38 minutes. It opens in the US on April 1, 2026, in IMAX and RealD 3D formats.

Wahoo… see you at the movies!
